UP-101 Ethology and Behavioral Ecology
|Period P1 - Université de Poitiers, France||Year 1|
|UP-101||Ethology and Behavioral Ecology||3 ECTS||Period P1||UP|
|Objectives:This course includes seminars on the principles and the evolution of concepts in ethology together with an experimental approach. A serie of seminars are focused on i) the importance of behaviour in host/parasite relationships. ii) intra-specific relationship and sociobiology. iii) behavioural ecology and adaptive strategies in animals. and iv) sexual selection mechanisms. Labs and project outdoor are focused on the design of an experimental protocol and on the analyses of data in behavioural studies. |
Outcomes:To study animal behaviour from a proximate perspective (learning processes, genetics of behaviour ) and an ultimate perspective (adaptive behavioural strategies, games theory ). To develop protocols fitting with interrogations, to experiment animal behaviour, to extract relevant individual data, to perform appropriate statistics, to discuss results with insight into recent developments in behavioural ecology.
