Objectives:After presenting basic concepts of Cartography and GIS, general rules to collect and represent ecological data are discussed, as well as information about sources of environmental and environmental related data is given. Exercises with different spatial analysis functions using local data are done in lab classes. Seminars using published GIS applications are organized by the students

Outcomes:Understand the basic concepts of cartography and the principles of GIS. Give basic information for the correct survey and storage of spatial information during ecological field studies. Store and document adequately spatial information. Be able to organize a map layout.
