UC-205 Biogeochemical Cycles & Environmental Assessment of Wetlands Field Studies
|Period P2a - Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal||Year 1|
|UC-205||Biogeochemical Cycles & Environmental Assessment of Wetlands Field Studies||6 ECTS||Period P2a||UC|
|Objectives:Nutrient dynamics in wetlands integrates aspects of mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, hydrology, modelling and aquatic ecology. This course combines knowledge of these fields, creating a holistic synthesis in the area of Aquatic Biogeochemistry and Ecology. It is a fundamental discipline in the area of Aquatic Sciences and Oceanic Sciences and Technologies. |
Outcomes:The objectives of this course are the acquisition of knowledge / skills to: 1) Recognize the importance of wetlands and the services provided by these ecosystems. 2) Recognize the vulnerability of wetlands and identification and analysis of direct and indirect anthropogenic pressure on wetlands. 3) Understand biogeochemical cycles (C, N and P) in wetlands. The skills will be achieved through: 1) progressive awareness for the services provided by wetlands systems. 2) described significant learning methodologies and concepts used as instruments to ensure knowledge applied to environmental management.
