CAU-210 Ecology of Soils - Practical Exercises
|Period P2b - Christian-Albrechts Universität zu Kiel, Germany||Year 1|
|CAU-210||Ecology of Soils Practical Exercises||6 ECTS||Period P2b||CAU|
|Objectives:Soil physics: Soil water, air and soil temperature regimes of typical soils and their impact as trigger for soil biology. Soil chemistry: Sorption, desorption, reaction kinetics, soil distribution, impact of agricultural activities on chemical filters and buffer function. Soil microbiology: Identification of functions of soil organisms, e.g. reduction capacity and enzyme activity. |
Outcomes:Students understand pedological and ecological relations and processes. They are able to indentify functions of abiotic and biotic components and their interactions. They are able to assess and evaluate the impact of exploitation on soil organisms and the consequences. In exercises methods for the assessment of chemical, physical and microbiological parameters will be learned as well as the different exploitation approaches worked out independently and interdisciplinary.
